About This Spot

Nestled just beyond the bustle of central Paris, Le Grand Café de la Mairie greets you with a warmth that feels both inviting and familiar. It carries the comfortable rhythm of a beloved neighborhood brasserie where time slows slightly, allowing conversations to bloom over carefully crafted plates and steady pours from the brewery taps.

Stepping inside, you’re met with a soothing blend of easy chatter, clinking glasses, and the faint, savory aroma of a kitchen turning simple ingredients into comforting French classics. The atmosphere strikes a balance between lively and relaxed, making it a place where locals and visitors alike find their perfect moment—whether savoring a morning coffee, settling in for a leisurely weekday lunch, or enjoying an evening drink after a day’s wander.

The heart of the experience lies in the genuine connection between the attentive, friendly staff and guests, who come not only for the flavors but the familiar, genuine hospitality. Here, dishes arrive with quiet confidence—like a tartare seasoned just right, or a flaky, buttery croissant that offers a small, buttery embrace of French tradition. The menu unfolds naturally throughout the day, inviting exploration of everything from light, fresh bites to satisfying, hearty plates that feel thoughtfully prepared rather than rushed.

Beyond the kitchen, the café’s spirit resonates in its role as a local gathering spot—a place where surreptitious smiles exchange across the tables and stories quietly grow alongside the wine and beers. Whether you come to unwind with a glass of spritz in hand or to pause and share a simple meal, Le Grand Café de la Mairie becomes less of a stop on a route and more of a small, personal discovery.

We had to stop by here to pick up some stuff and we randomly entered the cafe but the treatment by the girl and the croissant was AMAZING. It was easily one of the best croissants I’ve tried in France. Warm in the inside and super buttery but chewy as well. It is near the outside of Paris but worth it to try if you’re near.

A wonderful, authentic French dining experience! We started with the Steak Tartare which was expertly seasoned and served with perfectly crispy Frites and a fresh salad. The Confit de Canard was also fantastic—tender, flavorful, and served with a rich sauce over potatoes. The meal was capped off perfectly with a Café Gourmand featuring a delicious assortment of mini-desserts like Crème Brûlée and a berry panna cotta, alongside espresso. Excellent food and authentic atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Fortunate to call this place my local. As an Irishman living in the area with limited French - this team make it easy. Always so welcoming and kind. The food and drink is phenomenal - whether that’s for an evening beer or a coffee in the morning. Would classify this as one of the best bars I know and coming from the country I do - I know lots of good ones. The staff and Management go far beyond for me and my family. Outside and inside are perfect - rain or shine.

Love this place! Came here with my family for breakfast and it was delicious. Hot chocolate is better than in most places. The service was super fast and atmosphere is very cozy
